Do you have a stray bauble or two in your jewelry box that make you wonder about their value? Perhaps it’s a ring inherited from grandma or maybe a necklace picked up at a garage sale.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, the new Fred Meyer Jewelers store located within the Kroger Marketplace at Brighton Crossing, 100 N. 50th Ave., is flying in Sara Thaemlitz, a jewelry appraiser and gemologist, who will help people determine just exactly what that jewelry item is worth. “What It’s Worth” is a free event that is part mystery, part history lesson and part treasure hunt.
“We’ve all heard the stories of someone discovering an item of great value that (he or she) unknowingly had for years. Who hasn’t secretly wondered if that could be you?” said Kirsten Darrow, group vice president for Fred Meyer Jewelers. “This is the perfect time to dust off that unusual item from the bottom of your jewelry box to see what it’s really worth. Who knows – you might be holding a secret treasure.”
Limit one jewelry item per person on a first come first serve basis. The “What It’s Worth” service is not a full and complete appraisal, but a verbal approximation of value. Full and complete appraisals, which start at $75, can be scheduled during the event for a later date.
