Denver Dumb Friends League
Sense of Security
Hi, Penny. I know it has been a long time but I wanted to check to make sure someone had contacted you about the Celebration of Life for Thoa Fink. I am certain Corky Douglas planned to contact you but just in case I thought I would. The event will be at Corky’s Milwaukee Tavern on Sunday, April 26 from 1 to 4 PM. Oahn Vu, Thoa’s elder daughter is the chief organizer.
I don’t know if you were in Denver when Thoa had restaurants here. If you were, you would have known her. She originally had a beautiful, elegant Vietnamese / French restaurant at 158 Fillmore in Cherry Creek North. That restaurant was in the basement. Later, upstairs on street level she opened an Italian restaurant, Boccalino’s. It was a smash hit from the first day. She followed that with Cactus, a large gourmet Mexican restaurant in Denver’s Design Center.
A group of us are contacting people who worked for Thoa’s restaurants, her customers and her friends and inviting them to attend. We hope you will, too. It should be fun.
We are all trying to reach out to as many people as we can. The event is open to anyone so any help you can give us will be appreciated.
Thoa put up a great fight against cancer over a number of years. We all have special memories of her. She expressly asked for no funeral so her daughters, Corky and others are celebrating her life.
Hope to see you there.
