Nene’s $1.6M sale of Hilltop abode proves he’s also a real-estate wizard

April 15, 2012

Unlike some Denver professional sports superstars, former Nuggets player Nene (aka Maybyner Rodney Hilario) managed to sell his Denver digs not long after getting traded to the Washington Wizards. According to public records, Nene’s Grape Street abode is under contract for a cool $1.6 million.

The 6,652-square-foot pad is listed as a five-bedroom, seven-bath single family home built in 2005 in the Hilltop neighborhood.

Nene should consider himself lucky air jordan 4 femmes because former Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer is still sitting on his 10,000-square-foot Cherry Hills mansion sitting on 2.81 acres. He sunk a million bucks to upgrade the place from its stuck -in-the-‘80s décor.

Don’t get me wrong, Jake’s place is gorgeous (I took a tour when the renovation was complete), but it just hasn’t sold. He bought the pad in 2005 for $2.8 million and put it on the market in 2009 for a high of $4.6 million. It has since been reduced in price several times.

More recent former Broncos QB Tim Tebow, however, never owned here, but he might have a lease to pay off on his Buell Mansion abode that’s been described as a “compound” where his brother and manager allegedly lived.

Open doors

Doors Open Denver, a free tour that offers the chance to see behind-the-scenes haps of some of Denver’s historic landmarks, ends today with a 30-minute discussion of Wazee Street history since 1858, including the Rockmount Building, designed by architects Fisher & Fisher.  Tickets are free, and attendees should show up at 10:30 a.m. at 1626 Wazee St.

China bound

Denver’s heart (and mine) is breaking over the Monday departure of The Ritz-Carlton Denver GM Andrew Rogers, who has taken the job of opening a new 300-room Ritz in Chengdu, China. Rogers, 40, is flying to his new country, returning May 29 to Denver to escort his all-girl fam (except for Ollie the Maltese) to Vermont for the summer while he plants roots in China. He retrieves his family at the end of the summer and they all make the trek to their new life.

Rogers was the first hotelier to bring the coveted AAA Five-Diamond rating to a Denver hotel, and he and his team achieved that two years in a row. Denver will miss you, Andrew, and” gung hay fat choy” (Happy New Year) because that’s all the Chinese I know.

Steve Janicek, former general manager at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera, will try to fill Rogers’ huge shoes starting Monday.

Posties

Thanks to former Denver Post colleague Steve Raabe for hosting a hearty party Friday night at his Capitol Hill condo to give me a chance to formally say goodbye to a team I truly loved to work with. I miss them every day.

The seen

Republic of Kosovo Prime air jordan 4.5 femmes Minister Hashin Thaci dining at Elway’s Cherry Creek on Easter Sunday. His arrival caused quite the stir among staff because of the advance team of Secret Service agents who had to check out the joint.

Eavesdropping on a man riding a new scooter: “That’s the most fun you can have with your pants on.”
