Understand that neither Stanley nor any other manufacturer followed block studies. In fact, it is only in the last 30 years or so that plane studies have been assembled through historical research and the physical inspection of hundreds or thousands of tools made over the years. Beds marked with Bailey model numbers Nos. S casting thread on bed a single raised dot on some specimens. Model No. Frogs of some planes are nickel-plated on the machined surfaces.
