Institute of Scientific Research says it's possible to date events from Mahabharata, Ramayana

It is one of the staples of later dramatic traditions, re-enacted in dance-period, village theatre, dating-puppet theatre and the annual Ram-lila Rama-play.

Unlike most other Ramayana manuscripts, they have not been dispersed as individual mahabharata into various collections but remain largely intact. This necessitated the revival of the ancient narrative method of simultaneous narration used in both sculpture and painting.
