Do opposites really attract?
They do if you’re talking about Milo the Lynx, University of Colorado Denver’s new mascot, who posed for a photo shoot with some of “The Nutcracker” dancers from the Colorado Ballet.
It was a classic case of beauty and the beast. Milo, a big clumsy flat-footed fur ball by nature, stomped around the shoot while the dainty dancers showed off their skills on pointe.
The Friday photo shoot at Colorado Ballet headquarters on 12th and Lincoln, which served to promote the ballet’s upcoming “Nutcracker” season Nov. 30-Dec. 28, also will be part of the University of Colorado Denver’s holiday e-card this year. The card will feature Milo in a number of festival holiday venues.
Milo was “born” in February as part of CU Denver’s 40th anniversary year. Colorado Ballet has been performing Tchaikovsky’s Christmas classic, “The Nutcracker,” for more than 50 years.
The Colorado ballet website says, “The holidays are not complete until you join us for “The Nutcracker,” featuring unforgettable characters, dazzling costumes, classic choreography and Tchaikovsky’s extraordinary arrangement performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.”
Performances take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
