Tocabe native American restaurant adds new menu choices

November 6, 2015

Tocabe fans now have even more to savor with new menu items. Tocabe is introducing three new dishes: The Posu Bowl, Grilled Bannock and the Bad Hunter Salad.

“This is the first time we’ve added new selections to our menu since we opened Tocabe,” says Tocabe co-owner Matt Chandra. “We thought it was important to add some additional diverse options that appeal to all tastes and dietary needs.”

The Posu Bowl is Tocabe’s newest vegan offering and will be offered at both the North Denver and Greenwood Village locations. This dish features Red Lake Nations Wild Rice to which patrons can add their choice of beans and several veggie toppings including lettuce, tomatoes, onions, choice of two salsas and ancho chili sauce. Cheese, sour cream and meat toppings are also available.

Says co-owner Ben Jacobs, “Wild rice is an incredibly important food to many tribes in the northern plains and great lakes region. Wild rice is also known as manoomin, but we chose the name Posu because in the Osage language, which is my heritage, Posu means rice.”

Available only at Tocabe’s Greenwood Village location, 8181 E. Arapahoe Road, the Grilled Bannock features traditional bread grilled fresh to order, served alongside all of Tocabe’s toppings. Patrons can choose their meat (ground beef, grilled chicken, ground bison or shredded bison) and toppings made-to-order.

The Bad Hunter Salad is now available at both the Greenwood Village and Denver Highlands locations. The salad features Arcadia Mix salad with choice of up to five seasonal toppings including nuts, grains, squash, vegetables and house made dressings (choice of Maple Vinaigrette or Elderberry Balsamic).

All of the family favorites including the Indian Taco, Medicine Wheel Nachos, Bison Ribs and Stuffed Frybread will remain on the permanent menu. Tocabe’s famous Stuffed Frybread is only available at their original Denver Highlands location, 3536 W. 44th Ave.

Tocabe creates a new take on American Indian cuisine. Only the highest quality ingredients are used, along with local meats and produce and Native produced food products whenever possible. Tocabe’s bison is naturally fed and is hormone and antibiotic free.

Both locations in Denver at 3536 W. 44th Ave, and Greenwood Village at 8181 E. Arapahoe Rd., are open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
