Wrapping up the culinary adventure was a visit to The RiNo Yacht Club, the new bar that is the centerpiece of The Source, a clever collection of restaurants and merchants built by Zeppelin Development in an abandoned building at 3350 Brighton Blvd.
The ironic name, owner Mary Wright explained, tips the cap to the Platt River (“It’s small, but it’s all we have,” she said) while also creating a clubby feel.
Bartender Mclain Hedges created crafty cocktails (including a rye, maple syrup and siracha bitters concoction called You’ll Shoot Your Rye Out), and we sampled snacks from the rolling cart from Acorn. Much like dim sum, you mark your menu to choose bites that cost between two and $12 each.
The decor is more loungy with low communal couches, a drink railing along the perimeter and a stunning media light sculpture above the bar made of 1,400 LED bulbs that play with varying light. The piece was “envisioned” by Evan Miller, with the help of Matt Pinner and Brandon Tarbell, plus a community of volunteers.
