Perhaps the “sweetest” homage to Peyton Manning‘s Broncos quarterback career was the chocolate-covered bronze sculpture unveiled by Choctoberfest Saturday at the Omni Interlocken Resort and Spa in Broomfield.
Longmont-based sculpture artist Tim King spent the last year and a half working on this 300-pound statue that he coated in chocolate and put on display for the all-chocolate event.
King told Fox-31 News that he is paying tribute to Manning because he is “a team player and a great leader.” The statue is “more about the ‘man’ in Manning than the game. So there’s a lot of quotes, a lot of things from his family, different references to his education and his career,” revealed King in a mid-July interview with Fox 31.
While the chocolate-covered version of the popular Broncos QB was made of plaster, King intends to create a handful of Bronze versions of the statue for $55,000 each.
