Since 2003, the Denver Chalk Art Festival has attracted more than 200,000 visitors who come to watch the asphalt along Larimer Square transform into a bright and colorful street museum. This month, this event will host the first Centennial Chalk Art Festival in Centennial Center Park on the 19th and 20th.
This event, which showcases the Italian art of street painting that dates back to the 1600’s, features more than 150 professional, amateur and student artists who spend hours on their hands and knees recreating works of art using vivid pastel chalks.
Spectators will watch as the intricate chalk paintings come to life, while enjoying live music, food and beverages. Visitors also have the opportunity to interact with the artists as they work.
In 2014, USA Today and Money Magazine ranked Centennial among the “Best Places to Live” in America. As one of the safest cities in Colorado, Centennial is a great place to live, work and play – a natural fit for the chalk art festival expansion. The 11-acre, award winning, Centennial Center Park is the newest venue for this art festival.
