On Wednesday, Arts Brookfield opened the Abstract Perfection exhibit at 1801 California. With monumental abstract works by three artists, the exhibit depicts an act of vigorous and spontaneous personal expression. The opening reception for the exhibit will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at 1801 California.
Andra Archer curated the art for the show, which features artists Andy Berg, Amy Metier and John Wood.
Archer describes Abstract Perfection as “a unique genre that embodies three tenants: the physical act of expressive mark-making, the visual expression of non-objective imagery, and a sense of the intuitive or the connection to the unconscious.”
She further explains that for the artist, the process is almost more important than the final painting, and for the viewer, the painting becomes an experience through the artistic process to the artist’s unconscious.
The show runs through Nov. 13 and is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The exhibit and reception are open to the public and free to attend.
