Rock Steady at The Colorado Black Arts Festival this weekend

July 8, 2015

The Colorado Black Arts Festival presents the best of visual and performing arts to celebrate its 29th Annual Festival Friday through Sunday in historic Denver City Park West. This year’s Festival theme “Rock Steady” conveys the ability to excel in the arts with a rocking and soulful dimension.  It represents a soulful genre that captures artistic rhythms with origins in the African diaspora.

Festival 2015 is poised to present a visual feast of color, movement and pageantry.  Rock steady to the sounds from the African diaspora on two dynamic stages.  Come see the community rock steady in the Boogaloo Celebration Parade, visit the  Opalanga D Pugh Children’s Pavilion for Art and Learning, stroll the  “Watu Sokoni”( People’s Marketplace), and witness the Drum and Drill Team Exhibition, Vintage Car Show and Art Garden.

Returning this year is the scavenger hunt to engage festival-goers in a cultural and educational adventure. Friday’s Youth Festival will have attendees acting rock steady like teenagers in the streets in a version of a “Soul Train” line with one of Denver’s hottest disc jockeys.
