If there’s a better bacon appetizer in Colorado, you can poke me with a pig.
During the monthly Travel Writer’s reception, sponsored by Visit Denver, we were perfectly pampered last week in the luxurious lobby of The Renaissance Hotel inside former Colorado National Bank Building on 17th and Champa.
Inside a former working vault, the generous spread included candied habanero bacon off the Range appetizer menu available at the Teller Bar in the lobby in front of the entrance to Range, the hotel’s steakhouse.
This bacon dish packed a porcine punch with the heat of the habanero and the sweet of the brown sugar. Here’s the recipe:
Range’s Candied Habanero Bacon
Ingredients:
- Tender Belly habanero bacon.
- Brown sugar.
Method:
- Toss bacon in brown sugar until coated.
- Place on a wire rack on sheet pan.
- Bake at 300 degrees until crisp.
