John Elway previews Broncos season at JCC event

July 20, 2015

The Jewish Community Center of Denver has announced its inaugural Sports Hall of Fame Breakfast on Aug. 27. The breakfast will feature a conversation with John Elway (almost my favorite human on the planet), who will preview the upcoming season and provide his unique view on the Denver Broncos, followed by a Q & A. Les Shapiro will conduct the onstage interview with Elway and Marc Soicher will MC the event. Colorado sportscaster Irv Brown will be honored as the first Hall of Fame inductee.

Brown is a Denver native. He earned seven letters at North High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. Brown played basketball and baseball at University of Northern Colorado. After college, Brown coached football and baseball at Arvada High School. He also coached baseball at the University of Colorado and Metro State College. Brown had a successful career as a basketball referee, officiating six Final Fours. Brown also served as commissioner of the Colorado Athletic Conference in the early 1990s. For the past 25 years Brown has been on the air with Joe Williams, currently hosting The Fan on KKFN. “There is no one more deserving than Irv to be honored as our inaugural inductee. His commitment to athletics and to his craft is legendary,” said Bruce Glazer, JCC Hall of Fame committee member.

Proceeds from the JCC Sports Hall of Fame Breakfast benefit JCC sports camp scholarships and early childhood education programs. Tickets for premier seating are $250 and general reserved seating is $180. Information about sponsorship opportunities can be found at JCC Denver Events.

Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. and the program begins at 8 a.m.
