Tickets available Monday for Doors Open Denver

April 1, 2015

On Monday, online ticketing for the 11th annual Doors Open Denver Insider Tours will open to the public. Doors Open Denver offers more than 100 Insider Tours throughout the event weekend, April 25 and 26, and Pre-Event Expert Tours leading up to the event.

Insider Tours on April 25 and 26 provide opportunities to view areas of Denver buildings not frequently open to the public. This year’s tours include a look at the Mansions of Capitol Hill, the DaVita building, the D&F Tower and the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab.

Explore these sites with the aid of an expert tour guide. Tour guides include architects, landscape designers, historians and urban enthusiasts who have special knowledge of Denver’s neighborhoods and buildings. Tours last between 30 and 90 minutes. Tickets cost $10 for adults and are free for children 12 and under. Beginning Monday, visit www.doorsopendenver.com/tours to purchase tickets. Ticket sales benefit the Denver Architectural Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

“Doors Open Denver exposes Denver’s urban fabric, and inspires community interest and involvement in the evolution of Denver,” said Pauline Herrera Serianni, executive director of the Denver Architectural Foundation.

In addition to paid Insider tours, Doors Open Denver offers a number of free, open sites. Sites include the Historic Sugar Building, the Dry Ice Factory, RedLine, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, the Denver Art Museum, The Lobby-The Paris Hotel Building, The Source, Converge Denver and TAXI. Many of the sites will offer free interactive activities and exhibits.

Doors Open Denver is also featuring exclusive pre-event tours leading up to the event.

Between Friday and April 19, Ken Schroeppel, instructor of planning and design at University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture & Planning and founder of the DenverInfill blog, is conducting a series of tours. The City Transformed: DOD Pre-Event Expert Tours will feature Downtown Denver’s best urban areas, including the Civic Center District, 14th Street and LoDo and Union Station districts.

The pre-event tours provide an inside glimpse into the planning and design of each area and why this urban landscape is transforming Denver into a truly great city. All tours are $25 and include a handout and water bottle. For a full list of tours and to purchase tickets, visit www.doorsopendenver.com/tours.
